Red Sea Music Listen

Meditation is from the midpoint of the opera Thaïs by Jules Massenet (1894). This instrumental accompanies the lead as she departs on a new journey through the desert. Set originally for violin solo with orchestra, Wendy solos on the richer deeper sound of a viola, and David is the orchestra. The accompaniment is highly patterned and simple, while exquisite in the solo melody and the daring harmonic sequence. We recorded it in our back yard during a glorious Red Sea sunset. We dedicate it to our supportive community with wishes of serenity during the pandemic.
